BASKETBALL RESULTS: 20th annual McGill Redbird Classic Tournament, Oct. 17-19

McGill captain Vincent Dufort

MONTREAL -- The McGill University men's and women's basketball teams will do their part to celebrate Homecoming Week on campus when they host the 20th annual Redbird Classic Tournament, Oct. 17-19, at Love Competition Hall, located at 475 Pine Avenue West. Tickets are available at the door and a daily pass is $10 for adults and $5 for students, while children 12-and-under are admitted free.

The tourney will feature 12 games over three days, with Regina, Toronto, Lakehead and McGill all competing in the women's draw. On the men's side, Ottawa, Brock, St. Francis Xavier and McGill will vie for the tourney title.

The McGill Martlets are scheduled to play the second to last game each day, while the Redmen are slated for the final contest.

A player-of-the-game award will be announced after each contest and a championship plaque will be awarded to the tournament victor. The all-tournament team will include five players and one MVP. Playing rules will be FIBA, based on the ruling handed down by the CIS for 2013-14 competitions.

When two or more teams are tied for first place at the conclusion of tournament play, the champion will be declared by the following tie-breaking hierarchy:

1. The outcome of head-to-head competition among the teams involved in the tie.
2. The point-differential in head-to-head competition among the teams involved the tie.
3. The total point-differential for the tournament.
4. The quotient obtained by dividing the points against into the points for.
5. If the teams are still tied, then co-champions will be declared.

Results will be posted here as soon as they become available.
