MONTREAL --
Marie-Philip Poulin, a two-time Olympic gold medalist for Canada, has joined the McGill University women's hockey team as a skills coach.
Poulin is the second Olympian on the McGill staff, along with fellow gold medalist
Charline Labonté, who has been a goaltender coach with the Martlets for the past three seasons. This appointment also gives Poulin a chance to renew acquaintances with national team player
Melodie Daoust, current captain of the Martlets.
"We're thrilled to have Marie-Philip join our program," said McGill head coach
Peter Smith, who also served as an assistant coach with the national team when Poulin skated for Canada at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. "She brings a wealth of experience and expertise and has great skills both as a performer and a leader."
Poulin, who has served as captain of Canada's national squad for the past two years, currently plays with the Canadian Women's Hockey League's Montreal Canadiennes where she also wears the "C" on her jersey.
