Biography

Kathleen Caldwell, or Katie as she likes to be called, enrolled at McGill University in Sept, 2012 after graduating from Earl Marriott Secondary School in South Surrey, BC. She previously swam with the Pacific Sea Wolves swim club under coaches Annie Wolfe and Brad Dingey.

Before settling down to study at McGill, she took six months off from swimming to travel through Europe, a place she loves due to its different lifestyle, beautiful architecture and her family’s history.

Caldwell had an impressive debut at McGill in 2012-13, earning rookie-of-the-year and swimmer-of-the-year in the RSEQ conference, where she also merited all-star status. At the 2013 league championship meet in Quebec City, she won three gold medals, one silver and a pair of bronzes, establishing McGill and conference records. The 5-foot-9, middle-distance specialist claimed both the 200m and 400m individual medleys, completing the races in 2:11.20 and 4:37.01, respectively, erasing the previous RSEQ marks of 2:14.09 and 4:40.93. She also struck gold in the 200m butterfly, clocking in at 2:16.04.

Caldwell comes from a family of swimming and got her start by following after her sister Hilary who was already part of the PSW swim club on the west coast.
She has many ambitions for her future. Like most young talented swimmers, she dreams of competing at the Olympic Games. Outside of her swimming career however, she would like to venture into the world of law.
