CAREER RECAP AT McGILL: A 25-year-old native of Lac Etchemin, Que., Marika Labrecque signed a pro contract to play for the Montreal Force of the Premier Hockey Federation on May 17, 2023. A rugged 5-foot-5 centre who also played on defence in her final season, she suited up for 156 career games overall at McGill, from 2017 to 2023. Labrecque scored 114 career points, including 40 goals, while accumulating a school record 267 penalty minutes. In 92 regular season contests, she posted a 23-41-64 record with 158 PIMs. She skated in 21 post-season games and tallied four goals, with 17 points and 28 PIMs.

Recruited out of Dawson College in 2017, she graduated from McGill with an education degree in 2021 and returned last year for a certificate in human resources management. Labrecque, who served as an alternate captain of the Martlets in 2022-23, also competed on the varsity golf team at the second RSEQ tournament of the 2022 fall season, held at the Ki-8-Eb golf club in Trois-Rivieres, Que., Sept. 19-20. She finished 16th overall to become the first McGill female in school history to compete for two varsity sports teams over the same week. That weekend, she scored three goals and one assist in two games for the hockey Martlets, then joined the golf squad on Monday and shot 177 over the two-day tourney, with rounds of 90 and 87. She is believed to be the University's first two-sport female athlete in two decades. The last to accomplish that feat was Shaunna Burke (BA '01), who competed in separate semesters for the rugby and alpine ski teams. Burke later became the second Canadian woman to climb Mt. Everest in 2005.

- in her sixth year at McGill and fifth season with the McGill women's hockey team, she joined the golf team for the 2022 fall semester... Missed nine games with injuries and played most of the second semester on the blueline... OVERALL STATISTICS: 25 GP: 5-3-8, 42 PIM... REGULAR SEASON: 20 GP: 2-2-4, 30 PIM.

SENIOR SEASON (2020-21):  No games... Season cancelled due to COVID restrictions.

JUNIOR SEASON (2019-20):  Third in team scoring... OVERALL STATISTICS: 34 GP: 12-20-32, 56 PIM... REGULAR SEASON: Tenth in RSEQ scoring race: 20 GP: 6-9-15, 40 PIM.
